Today, we’re excited to unveil Field Service Digital, the next iteration of SmartVan. We have a new name, a new domain ( and a completely overhauled design. While we’re sad to leave behind the SmartVan name and brand we’ve built for more than four years, it was time for a change.

The all-new Field Service Digital reflects our ambition to be the premier resource for the field service pros who are leading the modern service economy. The site will still feature the same expert industry analysis that SmartVan readers have come to expect — but with a fresh design and a sharper focus on industry and technology trends, management best practices, analyst insights, and more.

Apart from the new logo and refocused story lineup, readers will notice several other changes:

Responsive Design

Field service is an inherently mobile industry — and field service pros need their news on the go. The new design is clean, easy to navigate, visual and completely responsive, so readers can get the latest news and insight whether they’re behind a desktop PC or in the field on a smartphone or tablet.

New Categories

Field Service Digital’s content is arranged by four categories:

  • Field Service: Examples of how real companies are solving big challenges and succeeding in the service economy.
  • Strategy & Leadership: Management-level stories and how-tos that run the gamut from hiring and training best practices to higher-level leadership and management challenges that service executives face.
  • Sales & Marketing: The tips, tricks and best practices service field service decision-makers need to drive more revenue from their service organizations.
  • Mobile & Tech: A look at how emerging technologies and tools are changing how technicians and managers alike do their jobs, with real-world lessons readers can apply to their own businesses.

New Story Types and Contributors

The design will also allow us to tell stories in new ways. Expect to see visual stories that are quick and easy to read, graphics that explain the latest industry research and management strategies, new writers, and expert contributing editors such as John Ragsdale (TSIA) and Sumair Dutta (The Service Council).

Soon, we’ll launch a new feature called Field Service Digital University. This portal will feature story packages about the topical management, strategy and technology challenges that are top-of-mind for service leaders.

More changes — and a completely revamped newsletter — will come soon. In the meantime, pardon our mess if you notice any broken images or links that lead nowhere.
