Your kids may be returning to school and vacations may be wrapping up, but the team at ServiceMax has been busy with the launch of a new release and a slick new iPhone app.

Summer ’14 is now generally available to all ServiceMax customers and it includes some key enhancements across the entire product line. But the big news with Summer ’14 is the launch of a new iPhone app that supports your service process – in your pocket! Here are some highlights of the release with links to additional information.

Mobile Enhancements and Additions

iPhonepocketServiceMax Mobile for iPhone is new with Summer ’14 and joins our family of field-ready mobile options that include iPad, Laptop and other HTML5 compatible devices. “Field-ready” is our broad design philosophy for our mobile applications. It signifies they are designed from the ground up with the Field Service worker in mind. The navigation elements, the expanded touch zones, menu selections, auto-fill capabilities are all part of how we define field-ready solutions. In addition, the iPhone app supports the ‘disconnected day’ through our robust offline capability. Read more about working in the offline world here.

Functionality on the iPhone includes full calendar views of work orders, events and tasks. Complete work order debrief including parts, pricing lookups whether online or offline. Our Smart Docs functionality found on the iPad is also supported in the iPhone, complete with signature capture and service report creation. In addition, the native capabilities of the iPhone (access maps, text message, phone) are tightly integrated with the ServiceMax app. Take a look at our new datasheet for more info.

ServiceMax Mobile for Laptops now supports the useful Smart Docs functionality that was previously only supported on the iPad. We now also support labor pricing from the Salesforce Price Book as well as line-level warranty pricing.

ServiceMax Mobile for iPad now supports enhanced attachment sharing making use of the native share sheet capability on the iPad as well as larger attachment sizes. Price Book labor pricing and line-level warranty pricing is also supported in iPad.

Scheduling Enhancements

The map shown in the Dispatch Console has been modified and enhanced with several usability improvements including maps size and location on the screen, enhanced ability to plot tech routes on the maps and other minor usability improvements.

ServiceMax Linx for ServicePower (announced in Spring ’14) also received a long list of important enhancements and improvements that make our integration to this high-powered, continuous optimization engine even more seamless.

Platform Enhancements

With every release, we also make some improvements to our core platform and Infinity framework. With Summer ’14 we have expanded search capabilities for Events and Tasks. The Service Flow Manager (SFM) Designer has also been improved with more object and field checks to make it easier to implement and deploy SFM processes. In Spring ’14 we enabled scheduled SFMs and multi-source SFMs. In Summer ’14 we bring both of those features together for scheduled, multi-source SFMs.

Last but far from least, we have done some major updates to online help specifically in the areas of SFM Designer, Dispatch Console and ServiceMax Linx for ServicePower.
