Last week, with a full house in Irvine and another packed room in San Francisco, business and service organization leaders gathered to explore the latest field service management technology, focusing on how to leverage tools such as IoT to make service a defining competitive advantage. The Field Service Advantage Roadshow program looked at ServiceMax’s new Connected Field Service offering with partner PTC, covered how mobile technology is changing the role of the technician and unveiled tools to help businesses better understand how to deliver consistent, first-class service. Speakers discussed service reorganization strategy, the shift to an outcomes-based model and offered an early look into the potential impact of the Internet of Things on field service.

Executives from solar microinverter manufacturer, Enphase Energy, and McKinley Equipment Corporation shared real world insights with the audience on leveraging IoT through a complete, connected field service management platform. They pointed to the customer service benefit and revenue generation potential of streaming data that diagnoses issues before they become mission critical problems. ServiceMax partner PTC joined the conversation on the technology side of things and offered a peek into the IoT’s potential to transform enterprise businesses. PTC pointed to the usability of mobile platforms for technicians as key to opening the door to applications that connect data from machines to technicians who fix them.

The Roadshow was jam-packed with high-level thought leadership all pointing to the potential of future IoT technology on customer service. Since last week’s stops in California, ServiceMax and partners have hit Dallas, Texas and will round out this week in Atlanta. ServiceMax executives, partners and customers will continue to take Connected Field Service on the road to share insights and real world examples with industry pros around the country.
